Note To Exam Board

Dear Examiner,
I hope that you enjoy looking through the work that I have worked hard to produce. Since the beginning of the course, my knowledge and skills have grown through my use of research and practice, this allowed me to create a final piece that you will hopefully enjoy viewing. I have labelled each post appropriately to allow you to be able to look through my work easily. You are also able to search through my work through the blog archive.
Thank you,
Quinn MacArthur.

As the genre of my magazine is Indie, the target audience for my magazine are indie scenesters, an example being Charlotte Hull. Indie scenesters are dedicated to finding the newest music, exploring all avenues to get there. I have aimed my magazine for this audience, making sure I have chosen musicians that would fit with the Indie genre and therefore attract my intended audience. The target age for my magazine is 15-24 year olds as these are the ages that are most likely to buy music magazines. Also, whilst conducting my research on UK Tribes, I discovered that people belonging to indie scenesters were around the ages of 16-24, meaning that I have made this magazine open to all indie scenesters. I understand that the majority of this age group will be students and will therefore have little money. For this reason, I have made the price of the magazine £3 which is a very little price to pay once a month. I have made sure my magazine is aimed and both genders to ensure that no one feels as though it is aimed one way and are put of purchasing my magazine. I have done this through not using colours that could be seen to belong to one gender, for example, pink is seen to be a 'girly' colour. I have also made sure that I have included bands that would appeal to both genders, for example, Catfish & the Bottlemen. The interests of Charlotte Hull include going to festivals and discovering new music. This is one of the many reasons why I feel as though using a new band on the front cover of my magazine is not a draw back as indie scenesters want to discover musicians they have never heard of. This means that although they may not have heard of Indeed, they will still be intrigued leading them to purchase the magazine. Although I wanted the main focus of my magazine to be on up and coming musicians, I have still chose to include bands that people have heard of. This was because I understand that whilst they do like discovering new music, they still enjoy listening to musicians that may have loved for a while, for example, The Kooks. When creating the magazine, I made sure that the styling and image portrayed of Indeed was purely indie to make sure the audience were able to relate to them. This was through the clothes that they wore and how they were portrayed in the interview. Indie scenesters are seen to wear patterned shirts, skinny jeans and converse; this is what Indeed are styled in on and in the magazine.
